Project Withdrawal (PW) is a serious condition brought on by an addition to programming. Symptoms include compulsive programming, searching for new projects to work on, a sense of panic at having entirely too much free time, and death. Programming may alleviate the symptoms, but there is no known cure. Surprisingly, infected programmers are reluctant to undergo treatment (many claim to "enjoy" this disease), severely limiting information available about PW. For example, it is unknown whether PW is contagious. Research is inconclusive, but programmers in close proximity with infected programmers are more likely to become infected themselves.
